I bought FAST FOOD MY WAY and MORE FAST FOOD MY WAY about a year ago and am still cooking out of both books almost every day because they are filled with magnificent recipes that are easy to prepare. All involve readily available ingredients, simple prep, and minimal use of cooking fuel. One caveat: when Jacques Pepin says "my way, " he means "my way." I have best success with his recipes when I follow his instructions to the letter. I confess I do make an occasional substitution of ingredients and sometimes do a little more than he spells out, but generally his recipes are reliable and result in meals that delight the palate. Normally I don't make desserts from scratch, but his desserts are simple, nutritious, and irresistible. The books in hardcover are well designed and stay open on a flat surface without clips for ease of reference while cooking, though some pages of my copies have begun to separate from the spine. The menu suggestions are helpful and the photos are accurate; it's also very useful to watch the videos of the recipes on his website. I've learned a lot about technique from the videos. In sum, Pepin's FAST FOOD and MORE FAST FOOD have changed my cooking from good to gourmet.
